Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE October 19, 2009 Baton Rouge Woman Arrested on Multiple Narcotics Charges BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Police Narcotics Agents arrested a Baton Rouge woman Friday following a two-month undercover investigation. Troopers arrested Akiba M. Brown (B/F, age 33) of Baton Rouge and booked her into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Crack Cocaine, MDMA, and Hydrocodone. Brown was also charged with Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Improper Supervision of a Minor. Troopers executed a search warrant at Brown’s residence, located at 6434 Nellie Avenue in Baton Rouge, where they located and seized nearly 350 grams of Marijuana, over 10 grams of Crack Cocaine, and MDMA and Hydrocodone packaged for distribution. Troopers also located a 9mm “Bersa” handgun at the residence. Louisiana State Police Narcotics Agents work throughout the state in cooperation with local, state, and federal agencies. These agents are commissioned Louisiana State Troopers who, through specialized schools and experience, focus on narcotics and narcotics-related criminal investigations. These investigations range in scope and size, to include cases such as large-scale organized crime narcotics rings, medication prescription fraud, and drug trafficking throughout the state.
