At 2:10 AM, on January 1, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop L investigated a single vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a Tickfaw, LA resident. The crash occurred on LA 1064 at milepost 1.8 in Tangipahoa Parish.

A 2002 Mitsubishi Montero, driven by Dawn Sharp (W/F/Age 38) of Tickfaw, LA, was traveling southbound on LA 1064 and entered a curve to the left. However, when the roadway straightened, the Mitsubishi Montero continued traveling to its left. The vehicle ran off the roadway to the left and traveled approximately 282 feet before entering back onto the roadway. The Montero then traveled off the roadway to the right and began flipping several times. Due to lack of seat belt use the driver was partially ejected from the vehicle as it flipped.

The driver of the Mitsubishi Montero, Dawn Sharp was pronounced dead at the scene by Investigator Tom Terrell of the Tangipahoa Parish Coroners Office, due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol involvement is unknown; however, blood was obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
