Lafayette Man Arrested for Child Molestation

Lafayette- Louisiana State Police detectives assigned to the Lafayette Field Office arrested a Lafayette man for charges ranging from molestation of a juvenile to possession of marijuana.

In early May, detectives received information from the Department of Children and Family Services and a local child advocacy organization, about a child whom had possibly been molested. The information indicated that a 13-year-old girl had been molested by 50-year-old Ryan McCauley of Lafayette, LA. The information indicated that the molestation took place while the girl was between the ages of 4 and 7.

During the course of investigation, troopers interviewed witnesses and gathered other evidence indicating that McCauley not only molested the girl, but that he also took nude photographs of her. Based on the evidence gathered, detectives secured a search warrant for McCauley’s residence in Lafayette.

On Friday, May 27, 2011, detectives executed the search warrant. Detectives were able to seize evidence relating to the crime and they also located a small amount of marijuana within the residence. They arrested McCauley for indecent behavior with a juvenile, molestation of a juvenile, pornography involving juveniles, and possession of marijuana. McCauley was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center without incident.
