Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release June 26, 2011 Unrestrained Driver Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Crash Vermilion Parish- Louisiana State Police Troop I has learned that the driver involved in a crash on LA 331 on Friday has died as a result of the injuries he sustained. According to investigating troopers, on June 26, 2011, at 5:10 p.m., 64-year-old Albert Thibodeaux of Abbeville, LA, was driving a 2005 Pontiac north on LA 331 near Roland Farm Road. For unknown reasons, Thibodeaux ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected to the left, rotated and overturned. Thibodeaux, who was unrestrained, was ejected from the vehicle. Thibodeaux was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Thibodeaux was pronounced dead at 6:10 p.m. on June 25, 2011, by a doctor at a local area hospital. Toxicology samples have been obtained and the results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Louisiana State Law requires all occupants of motor vehicles to wear their seatbelt. While wearing a seatbelt will not save you in every crash it will greatly reduce your risk of injury in most crashes. For More Information Contact: | |||
