Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release May 21, 2011 Two Vehicle Crash Claims One Life Iberia Parish- Last night, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on LA 14 at Claude Viator Road. The crash claimed the life of a New Iberia man. According to investigating troopers, on May 20, 2011, at 6:04 p.m., a 2002 Ford truck driven by 67-year-olf Raywood Hebert of New Iberia, LA, was turning at a median crossover on LA 14 at Claude Viator Road. A 2000 Chevrolet truck, driven by 21-year-old Ryan Clemente of New Iberia, LA, was traveling west on LA 14 in the west lane. Hebert turned onto LA 14, in the path of Clemente’s vehicle, and was struck on the passenger side by Clemente. Clemente was not injured in the crash. Hebert was transported to a local hospital where, he was pronounced dead upon arrival by the emergency room physician. Toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers. The results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the crash. This crash remains under investigation.
