Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release April 23, 2011 Fatal Crash in Acadia Claims One Life Crowley- Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a two vehicle crash on LA 1111 near LA 1112. The crash claimed the life of a Crowley man. According to investigating troopers, on April 23, 2011, at 2:45 p.m., a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 35-year-old Robert Hollier of Crowley, LA, was traveling north on LA 1111. A 2008 Buick, driven by 71-year-old Donald Legnion of Lake Charles, LA, was traveling south on LA 1111 approaching Hollier’s vehicle. For unknown reasons, Hollier crossed the centerline and struck Legnion’s vehicle. Hollier, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the vehicle. After being ejected, Hollier’s vehicle caught fire and burned. After impact, Legnion’s vehicle came to rest in the roadway. Legnion sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Hollier was transported by Acadian Ambulance Air-Med to a local hospital in critical condition. When he arrived at the hospital, Hollier was pronounced dead by the emergency room physician. Toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers and the results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation. For More Information Contact: | |||
