Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release April 15, 2011 Unrestrained Driver Dies in Crash Evangeline Parish- Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on LA 3042 near Huckleberry Road that claimed the life of a St. Landry woman. According to investigating troopers, on April 15, 2011, at 9:00 a.m., a 2004 Chevrolet truck driven by 26-year-old Gheri Blood of St. Landry, LA, was traveling north on LA 3042. For unknown reasons, Blood traveled across the center line and drove off the west side of the roadway. Blood traveled 300 feet before striking a tree and overturning. Blood, who was unrestrained, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology samples were obtained and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. This is the 19th fatal crash and the 19th fatality Troop I has investigated this year. For More Information Contact: | |||
