Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release April 19, 2011 Two Vehicle Crash Claims One Life Iberia Parish- Last night, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a two vehicle crash on LA 31 near Bellmont Road that claimed the life of a Catahoula man. According to investigating troopers, on April 18, 2011, at about 2:38 p.m., a 2000 Jeep driven by 59-year-old Frank French of Catahoula, LA, was traveling north on LA 31. A 1987 Peterbuilt 18-wheeler, driven by Timothy Landry of Jeanerette, LA, was traveling south on LA 31. For unknown reasons, French ran off the right side of the road, steered back to the left crossing the center line, and struck Landry’s vehicle. Landry was not injured in the crash. French was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead by doctors. Toxicology samples were obtained and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
