Two Vehicle Crash Claims One Life

Vermilion Parish- Last night, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a two vehicle crash on LA 3267 at John Hardy Drive. The crash claimed the life of an Abbeville man.

According to investigating troopers, on April 22, 2011, at 8:00 p.m., 76-year-old Minos Baudoin of Abbeville, LA, was driving a 2000 Toyota passenger car south on John Hardy Drive approaching LA 3267. A 2008 Ford truck driven by 33-year-old Brandon Labit of Abbeville, LA , was traveling west on LA 3267 approaching John Hardy Drive. Baudoin failed to stop at a 2-way stop sign and entered the path of Labit’s vehicle. The front of Labit’s vehicle struck the driver side of Baudoin’s vehicle, which caused Baudoin’s vehicle to travel off the roadway and come to rest. Labit’s vehicle came to rest in the road.

Baudoin, who was unrestrained, died as a result of his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner. Labit, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained only moderate injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
