Fatal Crash Claims One Life

Acadia Parish- Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on I-10 east milepost 69 yesterday. The crash claimed the life of a New Orleans man.

According to investigating troopers on June 28, 2011, at 3:30 p.m., a 2002 GMC Envoy was traveling east on I-10 at milepost 69. For reasons unknown, the driver of the Envoy crossed the center line, ran off the right side of the road, rotated, and overturned. The vehicle came to rest on its roof in a wooded area adjacent to the interstate.

There were three occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Scott Bader (W/M 28 years old) of Metairie, LA, was wearing his seatbelt and sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was treated at the scene. Timothy Cushing Jr. (W/M 29 years old) of Kenner, LA, was not restrained and was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Antoine Jackson (B/M 34 years old) of New Orleans, LA, was not restrained and was ejected from the vehicle. Jackson died at the scene and was pronounced dead by the Acadia Parish Coroner.

Troopers are still investigating who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation. This is the 40th fatal crash and the 42nd fatality Troop I has investigated in 2011.

Louisiana State Law requires all occupants of motor vehicles to wear their seatbelt. While wearing a seatbelt will not save you in every crash it will greatly reduce your risk of injury in most crashes.
