Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE November 14, 2009 Troopers Arrest Baton Rouge Man for Burglary BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Troopers working in the Baton Rouge Criminal Investigative Division arrested a Baton Rouge man yesterday following a month-long investigation. Vincent Lavigne (B/M, age 44) of Baton Rouge was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of Simple Burglary and Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. Troopers began the investigation following an anonymous tip received through Crime Stoppers. Following the tip and through further investigation, Troopers learned that Lavigne had burglarized a home in Baton Rouge on August 25, 2009. During the burglary, two Husqvarna chainsaws, a Honda Generator, and a Stihl Power Blower were stolen, with a total value of approximately $5,800. Detectives learned that the two chainsaws were pawned by Lavigne at a local pawn shop the morning after they were stolen. On Friday, November 13, Detectives located Lavigne at 5311 Paige Street in Baton Rouge and placed him under arrest. During an interview, Lavigne admitted that he had stolen the items and that he had pawned the two chainsaws for $200. He was still in possession of the other stolen items. Detectives were able to bring this case to closure and recover the stolen items after a thorough investigation and with help from Crime Stoppers.
