| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release April 6, 2011 Baton Rouge Man Arrested for Indecent Behavior with a Minor and Online Solicitation Today, detectives with the Lafayette field office of the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation arrested a Baton Rouge man for indecent behavior with a juvenile and computer aided solicitation of a minor. Over the course of the last week, while working undercover in various on-line chat rooms, troopers posing as a 14-year-old girl were contacted by 29-year-old James Dustin Smith of Baton Rouge. During the course of the chat, Smith began a sexually explicit conversation. Smith sent sexually explicit photos to detectives. He also asked the 14-year-old, he thought he was chatting with, if he could meet her in person. Today, Smith drove from Baton Rouge to Lafayette to meet the girl. When he arrived at an undisclosed location in Lafayette, Smith was taken into custody without incident by troopers. He was booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for indecent behavior with a juvenile, and computer aided solicitation of a minor. This was another case involving Operation Child Watch. Troopers will continue working to locate and arrest those individuals who prey on the innocence of a child. If you know anyone involved in the sexual exploitation of children, or would like someone to conduct a presentation on the dangers facing young children today, you are asked to call troopers at 337-262-3341.
