Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release April 6, 2011 Unrestrained Driver Dies in Crash Acadia Parish- Yesterday, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on LA 367 north of LA 98. The crash claimed the life of a Eunice man. According to investigating troopers on April 5, 2011, at 11:15 a.m., a 2003 Mitsubishi SUV driven by 18-year-old Deondrick Veal of Eunice, LA, was traveling south on LA 367. Veal failed to negotiate a right curve and ran off the left side of the road. Veal overcorrected causing his vehicle to travel across the road, enter a ditch, and overturn when it struck the ditch embankment. Veal was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Veal was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. Toxicology samples were obtained and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. This is the 18th fatal crash and the 18th fatality Troop I has investigated this year. For More Information Contact: | |||
