Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release March 24, 2011 Basile Man Arrested for Aggravated Rape St. Landry Parish- Today, Louisiana State Police detectives assigned to the Lafayette Field Office, and the US Marshal’s Office arrested a Basile man for aggravated rape and molestation of a juvenile. In early March 2011, detectives received a complaint about 56-year-old Kenneth James Fontenot of Basile, LA. The information indicated that Fontenot had sex with a 10 year old girl between the years of 1993 and 1995. Detectives were able to gather evidence that confirmed the allegations made against Fontenot. Based on this evidence, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Fontenot. Today, with the assistance of the US Marshal’s Office, Fontenot was arrested without incident for the warrant. He was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail for aggravated rape and molestation of a juvenile. This case remains under investigation. This was another case involving Operation Child Watch. Troopers will continue working to locate and arrest those individuals who prey on the innocence of a child.
