Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release October 28, 2010 Sixteen Year Old Killed in Crash Lafayette- Last night, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on LA 3073 near Chemin Metarie Road. The crash claimed the life of a 16-year-old Milton man. According to investigating troopers, on October 27, 2010, shortly after 9:00 p.m., 16-year-old Matthew Hebert of Milton, LA, was driving south on LA 3073 in a 1993 Chevrolet truck. For reasons unknown, Hebert traveled off the left side of the road, steered right, and re-entered road. When Hebert re-entered the road, he overcorrected, traveled across both lanes of travel, and overturned. He was partially ejected from the vehicle. Hebert was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner. Routine toxicology samples are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Speed is considered a factor in this crash.
