Haz-Mat Leak Causes I-10 Closure

Lafayette- Louisiana State Police Troop I currently has I-10 closed at I-49. The interstate is closed due to a Haz-Mat leak at the I-10 eastbound scales, milepost 108. The leak involves an 18-wheeler transporting Silicon Tetrafluoride, which is an inhalation hazard.

The following roads are closed:

I-10 eastbound is closed at I-49. Drivers should take I-49 north to US 190 and travel east.

I-10 westbound is closed at LA 415 (Lobdell Exit 151). Drivers should travel north to US 190 and travel west to I-49.

Drivers needing road closed information are asked to call 511.

The cause of the leak is still under investigation. State Police Emergency Services are on scene and are working diligently to secure the leak. Updates will follow as more information is available.
