Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release October 30, 2010 ***10:00 UPDATE*** I-10 Reopened Lafayette- Louisiana State Police Emergency Services personnel have secured the leak. It was determined the leak was caused by a loose valve on the trailer. Interstate 10 has been reopened in both directions. Haz-Mat Leak Causes I-10 Closure Lafayette- Louisiana State Police Troop I currently has I-10 closed at I-49. The interstate is closed due to a Haz-Mat leak at the I-10 eastbound scales, milepost 108. The leak involves an 18-wheeler transporting Silicon Tetrafluoride, which is an inhalation hazard. The following roads are closed: I-10 eastbound is closed at I-49. Drivers should take I-49 north to US 190 and travel east. I-10 westbound is closed at LA 415 (Lobdell Exit 151). Drivers should travel north to US 190 and travel west to I-49. Drivers needing road closed information are asked to call 511. The cause of the leak is still under investigation.
