| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release December 4, 2010 Lafayette Woman Killed in Crash Vermilion Parish - This evening, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on LA 82 south of Forked Island. The crash claimed the life of a Lafayette woman. According to investigating troopers, on December 4, 2010, at 3:34 p.m., a 2008 Honda Civic driven by 22-year-old Monique Vidrine of Lafayette, LA, was traveling east on LA 82. For unknown reasons, Vidrine drove off the right side of the road. Vidrine over-steered to the left, back to the right and off the road. Vidrine drove through a ditch and into several trees. Vidrine, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner. Toxicology samples were obtained, and the results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Speed is considered to be a factor in this crash. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police wants to remind everyone that state law requires all occupants of a motor vehicle to wear a seatbelt. While wearing a seatbelt will not save you in every crash, it will greatly reduce your risk of injury in most crashes. This is the 61st fatal crash and the 65th fatality Troop I has investigated this year. For More Information Contact: | |||
