Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release October 23, 2010 ***UPDATE*** Suspect Vehicle Sought in Crash St. Mary Parish- Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I has identified the type of vehicle being sought in connection with the October 18, 2010, hit and run crash that left a Jacksonville man dead. Troopers gathered evidence from the scene of the crash on LA 182 in Amelia. After analyzing the evidence, troopers were able to determine the vehicle they are looking for is a 1999-2002 Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon. The suspect vehicle is gold or pewter in color, and it should have damage to the right front of the vehicle. If you know anyone who owns a vehicle matching this description State Police urge you to call 337-262-5880. The crash remains under investigation. October 18, 2010 Hit and Run Crash Leaves Jacksonville Man Dead St. Mary Parish- Early this morning, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a fatal hit and run crash on LA 182 in Amelia that claimed the life of a pedestrian. According to investigating troopers, on October 18, 2010, at 4:16 a.m., an unknown vehicle was traveling east on LA 182. For unknown reasons the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck 29-year-old Weston Groves of Jacksonville, FL. After striking Groves, the vehicle fled the scene. Groves was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Mary Parish Coroner. This case remains under investigation.
