School Bus Crash Injures Three

Vermilion Parish- Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a two vehicle crash involving a school bus on LA 700 at Gladu Road.

According to the investigating troopers, on September 23, 2010, at 4:08 p.m., a 2009 Blue Bird Vermilion Parish school bus, driven by 40-year-old Tanya Primeaux of Kaplan, LA, was traveling east on Gladu Road. Primeaux came to a stop at a two-way stop sign on Gladu Road at its intersection with LA 700. After stopping, she continued straight crossing LA 700. As Primeaux was crossing LA 700, a Ford Explorer driven by 23-year-old Pauline Wheeler of Rayne, LA, struck the right side of the school bus.

There were 26 children on the bus, and two of them were transported with minor injuries to a local hospital. Wheeler was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Primeaux was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign. The crash remains under investigation.
