Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release September 24, 2010 State Police Investigate Fatal Haz-Mat Explosion Broussard- Today, Louisiana State Police Haz-Mat, Broussard Police Department, and the Broussard Fire Department responded to an explosion at the business of Supreme Services, 108 Southwood Road Broussard, LA, that claimed the life of a Gretna man. According to the initial investigation, on September 24, 2010, shortly after 3:00 p.m., a pressure test was being conducted on a piece of oil field equipment. The equipment was being tested utilizing nitrogen gas. During the test, there was a malfunction with the equipment resulting in an explosion. A piece of pipe came lose from the equipment striking 27-year-old Justin Wood. Wood was critically injured and was transported to a local hospital. When he arrived at the hospital, Wood was pronounced dead. The case remains under investigation. For More Information Contact: | |||
