Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release September 27, 2010 ***UPDATE*** Passenger Succumbs to Injuries Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I learned that the passenger involved in Friday’s crash on LA 696 succumbed to her injuries. On Saturday, September 25, 2010, 17-year-old Rochelle Hollier of Maurice, LA, died as a result of her injuries at a local hospital. This marks the 44th fatal crash and the 49th fatality in the Troop I area in 2010. September 23, 2010 Fatal Crash in Vermilion Claims One Life Vermilion Parish- Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a New Iberia man and left a Maurice woman in critical condition. According to the investigating troopers, on September 24, 2010, shortly after 3:00 p.m., a 1999 Honda Accord was traveling west on LA 696. For unknown reasons the driver, 19-year-old Shawn Touchard of New Iberia, LA, lost control of the vehicle. Touchard’s vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck a culvert on the driver side of the vehicle. Touchard was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner. The passenger in his vehicle, 17-year-old Rochelle Hollier of Maurice, LA, was critically injured in the crash. She was transported to a local hospital by Acadian Air-Med.
