Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release September 25, 2010 Fatal Crash in Acadia Claims One Life Acadia Parish- Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a two vehicle crash on LA 3067 near Cinnamon Road that claimed the life of an Iota man. According to investigating troopers, on September 25, 2010, at 7:26 a.m., a Kubota all-terrain vehicle driven by 79-year-old Rodney Lejeune of Iota, LA, was traveling east on LA 3067. A 2004 GMC Envoy, driven by 25-year-old Megan Sonnier of Iota, LA, was traveling behind the Kubota. For unknown reasons Sonnier failed to observe the Kubota. Sonnier struck the rear of Lejeune’s vehicle. As a result, Lejeune was ejected from the vehicle. The Kubota traveled off the road and overturned. Lejeune was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner. Sonnier was not injured in the crash. Toxicoligy samples were taken from both drivers and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
