Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release October 18, 2010 Fatal Crash in St. Martin Parish Cecila- This morning, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on LA 355 at the Bayou Teche bridge. The crash claimed the life of a 23 year old female from Breaux Bridge. According to investigating troopers, on December 17, 2010 at 2:46 a.m., a 1995 Ford Explorer driven by 23-year-old Debricka Sylvester of Breaux Bridge, LA, was traveling east on LA 355. For unknown reasons Sylvester ran off the right side of the road and entered the Bayou Teche. A 12-yeaer-old passenger in the car was able to exit the vehicle and swim to the bank uninjured. Sylvester was able to exit the vehicle, but subsequently drowned while attempting to swim to safety. Toxicology samples were obtained and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. For More Information Contact: | |||
