Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE Roads to be Closed for Parade in Port Allen BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Troopers, Port Allen Police Officers, and West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputies will be closing roadways to traffic on Saturday, February 27 in preparation for the parade being held to honor the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl Victory. Officials from the city of Port Allen and leaders from the law enforcement community met to discuss plans for security and traffic safety leading up to and following the event. Plans are in place to close the following roadways shortly after 1:30 p.m. for the parade: · Interstate 10 eastbound exit ramp to LA 1 – traffic will only be allowed to go south on LA 1. · LA 1 northbound from Brusly toward Port Allen – traffic will have to go east or west on I-10. · LA 1 southbound, north of Port Allen – traffic will have to stop or turn around and go north. · Port Allen Police will also close city streets throughout Port Allen to traffic. The parade will begin at Rivault Park at 1:00 p.m., and end at City Hall, crossing LA 1 in two locations. State Troopers will be in and around the area to ensure the smooth flow of traffic. Troopers would also like to remind motorist to be patient, as heavier than normal traffic congestion is expected. Make sure to buckle up, no matter where you are seated in the vehicle, and do not drive if you have been drinking.
