Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release January 2, 2011 Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide after Passenger Dies in Crash St. Martin Parish- Last night, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on LA 96 near Isle Labbe Road. The crash claimed the life of a 17-year-old Jeanerette woman. According to investigating troopers, on January 1, 2011, shortly after 9:00 p.m., 34-year-old Terry Joseph of New Iberia, LA, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet truck west on LA 96. Joseph failed to negotiate a right curve and ran off the roadway to the left. Joseph’s vehicle traveled through a ditch, and struck two trees with its front left side. Neither Joseph nor his passenger, 17-year-old Anessia Baldwin of Jeanerette, LA, were wearing a seatbelt. Baldwin died at the scene as a result of the crash. She was pronounced dead by the St. Martin Parish Coroner. Joseph was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Alcohol is suspected on the part of Joseph and, upon his release form the hospital, he will be booked for DWI, vehicular homicide, reckless operation, no seatbelt, and driving with an expired license.
