| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release January 22, 2011 Opelousas Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash St. Landry Parish- Last night, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 103 at Boy Road that claimed the life of an Opelousas man. According to investigating troopers, on January 21, 2011, at 11:30 p.m., a 2005 Nissan truck driven by 33-year-old Kenneth Credeur of Opelousas, LA, was traveling south on LA 103. As Credeur was exiting a left curve he ran off the right side of the road and into a ditch. Credeur’s vehicle traveled through the ditch, struck a livestock fence, and overturned into a pasture. Credeur and his passenger, 34-year-old Dana Hudson of Arnaudville, LA, were not restrained and were ejected from the vehicle. Hudson was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Credeur died at the scene and was pronounced dead by the St. Landry Parish Coroner. Toxicology samples were obtained and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation. This is the 6th fatal crash and 6th fatality Troop I has investigated this year. In all 6 fatal crashes this year the persons who died were unrestrained. Louisiana State Law requires that all occupants in a motor vehicle be properly restrained. While wearing a seatbelt will not save you in every crash, it will reduce your risk of injury in most crashes. Remember to always buckle up. For More Information Contact: | |||
