TROOP I NEWS RELEASE May 9, 2013 Kaplan Man Arrested for Child Molestation VERMILION PARISH- Yesterday, Detectives with Louisiana State Police arrested a Kaplan man for charges relating to child molestation. This week, Detectives were notified by agents with Homeland Security that 57-year-old Henry Johnson had possibly molested a juvenile several years ago. Detectives, working closely with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security, were able to gather information which indicated Johnson had a sexual encounter over 20 years ago with a child who was then under the age of 10. Yesterday, Johnson met with State Police Detectives at the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Vermilion Parish Jail for molestation of a juvenile. This case remains under investigation. If convicted, Johnson could be imprisoned for not less than twenty-five years nor more than ninety-nine years. At least twenty-five years of the sentence imposed shall be served without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence. Louisiana State Police will continue to work with our local, state and federal partners to locate anyone who preys on the innocence of a child. If you have any information about the sexual exploitation of children you are urged to call State Police Detectives at 337-262-3341. For More Information Contact: TFC.
