| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP I NEWS RELEASE February 1, 2013 Florida Man Dies in Crash ST. MARY PARISH- Early this morning, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a fatal crash on US Highway 90 in Bayou Vista which claimed the life of a Pensacola man. According to investigating Troopers, at 1:50 a.m., a 2007 Ford truck driven by 48-year-old Roger Goza of Pensacola, FL, was traveling west on US Highway 90. For reasons under investigation, Goza failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the road, struck a private drive causing his vehicle to overturn. Goza, who was restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Mary Parish Coroner. Troopers suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Last year, 62% of the fatal crashes investigated by Troop I involved some form of impairment. While results are still pending in this crash, Troopers remind drivers about the dangers of impaired driving. Even after having one drink decision making abilities are hindered. Make the responsible decision every time, don’t drink and drive. For More Information Contact: TFC.
