Single Vehicle Crash Claims Two Lives

ST. MARTIN PARISH- Last night, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on LA Highway 347 near Delcambre Road which claimed the lives of a couple from St. Martinville.

According to investigating Troopers, at 10:22 p.m., 45-year-old Danny Boudreaux of St. Martinville was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Corvette south on LA Highway 347. For reasons still under investigation, Boudreaux traveled off the left side of the road in a slight left curve. After traveling off the road Boudreaux’s vehicle entered a ditch, overturned several times and struck a tree.

Boudreaux was unrestrained and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Martin Parish Coroner. A passenger in the vehicle, 44-year-old Tammy Boudreaux of St. Martinville was restrained and was also pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unknown if impairment was a factor in the crash; however, toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

As Mardi Gras festivities continue throughout Acadiana, and our state, Troopers remind drivers about the importance of designating a driver and wearing a seatbelt. State law requires all occupants of motor vehicles to wear a seat belt. While wearing a seat belt will not save you in every crash, it can greatly reduce the risk of injury in most crashes.
