Earlier this month, Detectives received information which indicated that 20-year-old Austin Vinning of Morgan City was possibly in possession of child pornography. Based on the information, Detectives began an investigation. Through the course of their investigation, Detectives were able to obtain information that showed Vinning was in possession of child pornography. Based on their evidence Detectives obtained a search warrant for Vinning’s home.

On Wednesday, Detectives, assisted by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office served the search warrant at Vinning’s home. During a preliminary search of Vinning’s digital media storage devices, Detectives located several movies which depicted child pornography. Detectives also located marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Vinning’s home. He was placed under arrest without incident. He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Jail for possession of child pornography, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

This case remains under investigation.

This case was part of “Operation Child Watch.” The mission of “Operation Child Watch” is to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators who prey on the innocence of a child. Louisiana State Police will continue to work closely with other law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest these individuals.
