***UPDATE***
Driver Arrested for Vehicular Homicide

ST. MARY PARISH- Today, Troopers arrested 31-year-old Tasha Boudreaux of Patterson for charges relating to the fatal crash which occurred on April 15th on US Highway 90 in Calumet.

Earlier this week, the investigating Troopers received the toxicology report for Boudreaux from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The report indicated Boudreaux was under the influence of narcotics when the crash occurred. With the information from the report, and other information gathered during the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for Boudreaux.

This morning Boudreaux was arrested without incident at a home in Patterson. She was booked into the St. Mary Parish Jail for the warrant charging her with careless operation, possession of marijuana, vehicular negligent injuring and vehicular homicide.

This case remains under investigation.

Impairment continues to be a leading factor in fatal crashed in the Troop I area. So far this year Troop I has investigated 26 fatal crashes, and over half of them have involved some form of impairment. Troopers will continue to work closely with other law enforcement agencies, and local communities, to educate drivers about the dangers of impaired driving. If you plan to drink make sure you designate a driver. If you are prescribed any medication, make sure you fully read and understand the warning labels and effects before you get behind the wheel.

Patterson Man Killed in Two Vehicle Crash on US 90

ST. MARY PARISH- Today, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a two vehicle crash on US Highway 90 in Calumet which claimed the life of a Patterson man.

According to investigating Troopers, on April 15, 2013, shortly before 2:00 p.m., 31-year-old Tasha Boudreaux of Patterson was driving a 2007 Toyota passenger car east on US Highway 90. For reasons still under investigation, Boudreaux traveled off the left side of the road, crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes. After entering the westbound lanes, Boudreaux’s vehicle struck on its right side by a 2011 Toyota van driven by 41-year-old Jona Laborde of Youngsville.

Boudreaux and her passenger, 33-year-old Ryan Boudreaux of Patterson, were both wearing seat belts. Tasha Boudreaux sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Ryan Boudreaux was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Mary Parish Coroner. Laborde and her 3-year-old passenger were properly restrained. Both were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash; however, routine toxicology samples were obtained and have been submitted for analysis.

This crash remains under investigation.

Last year, 62% of the fatal crashes investigated by Troop I involved some form of impairment. While results are still pending in this crash, Troopers remind drivers about the dangers of impaired driving. Even after having just one drink, decision making abilities are hindered. Make the responsible decision every time, don’t drink and drive.
