TROOP I PRESS RELEASE

June 8, 2013
Motorcyclist Succumbs to Injuries

LAFAYETTE PARISH- Yesterday, Troopers with Louisiana State Police were notified that a Lafayette man involved in a crash over the weekend had succumbed to his injuries.

According to investigating Troopers at 3:45 p.m., 32-year-old James Feazell of Lafayette was driving a 2006 Suzuki west on LA Highway 720 west of LA Highway 343. Feazell was attempting to pass a 2007 Suzuki, driven by 30 year-old Daniel Fontenot of Lafayette, on the right when the two vehicles collided. Fontenot, who was wearing a helmet, was not injured in the crash. Feazell, who was also wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital yesterday.

Troopers suspect impairment was a factor in the crash. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

This crash remains under investigation.
