TROOP I NEWS RELEASE October 30, 2013 Rayne Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash Lafayette Parish- Early this morning, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on LA Highway 342 near LA Highway 100 which claimed the life of a Rayne man. According to investigating Troopers, at 12:54 a.m., 32-year-old Quinn Aubrey of Rayne, was driving a 1999 Ford truck west on LA Highway 342. For reasons still under investigation, Aubrey traveled off the left side of the road in a curve, overcorrected then traveled off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole before the vehicle overturned. Aubrey was unrestrained and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. A lack of seat belt use continues to be a factor in fatal crashes across the Troop I area. Troopers will continue to work day and night to locate drivers and passengers who are not restrained. Louisiana Law requires that all persons riding in a motor vehicle be properly restrained regardless of seating position. While wearing a seat belt will not save you in every crash it will reduce your risk of injury in most crashes. For More Information Contact: TFC.
