Edmonson, Superintendent HEADQUARTERS- NEWS RELEASE Two Vehicle Crash Claims Life of Norwood Man WILSON- On Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 7:55 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a two-vehicle crash near Wilson, LA that claimed the life of a Norwood man. Scott R. Garig (W/M, 39 years old) was traveling northbound on LA Hwy 19 south of LA Hwy 422 when, for unknown reasons, his 1994 Ford Ranger drifted across the centerline and struck the left side of a 1989 Mack tractor-trailer that was traveling southbound. The Ford Ranger rotated counter-clockwise after the impact and ran off the right side of the roadway. Garig had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Feliciana Coroner’s Office. The driver of the Mack truck, 71- year old Henry J. Chapman of Gloster, MS, received minor injuries during the collision. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash; however, blood was obtained from Garig and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.
