Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release June 13, 2010 Head-on Collision Claims the Life of New Roads Woman POINTE COUPEE- On June 13, 2010 at 2:45 am, Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a New Roads woman. A 2000 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Daniel T. Parker (B/M, 28 yrs old) of Ventress, was traveling northbound on LA Hwy 415 north of LA Hwy 414 when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2006 Chevrolet Impala. The Impala, driven by Shatara R. Jackson (B/F. 23 years old) of New Roads, was struck head-on. Jackson received critical injuries during the collision and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. A passenger in the Chevy Impala, Jozetta Leann Johnson (B/F, 21 years old) of New Roads, received fatal injuries from the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pointe Coupee Coroner’s Office. A second passenger in the Impala, Lashell M. JeanPierre (B/F, 21 years old) of New Roads, was critically injured in the crash and transported to Baton Rouge General Mid-City Hospital. None of the occupants in the Chevy Impala were wearing their seatbelts. Seat belt use by Parker is unknown. Alcohol use by the driver of the Impala is suspected. Blood was taken from both drivers and submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis.
