| Troop I - NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release September 20, 2012 Troopers Investigate Fatal Crash on US Highway 90 IBERIA-This morning, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on US Highway 90 near LA Highway 85 which claimed the life of a Little Rock man. According to investigating Troopers, on September 20, 2012, shortly after 3:00 a.m., 48-year-old Keith Goeman of Little Rock, AR, was driving a 2001 Ford F-350 east on US Highway 90. Goeman was traveling behind a 2001 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by 57-year-old George Austin of Austin, TX. Austin, who was transporting a hazardous material, had stopped at a railroad crossing in the road. For reasons still under investigation, Goeman failed to stop his vehicle and struck the trailer from behind. Goeman was pronounced dead by the Iberia Parish Coroner. Troopers are still investigating whether or not Goeman was properly restrained. Austin, who was properly restrained, was not injured in the crash. It is unknown if either driver was impaired; however, toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The results of the analysis are pending. This crash remains under investigation. While this crash remains under investigation, Troopers remind drivers that Louisiana State Law requires all occupants of motor vehicles to be properly restrained. While wearing a seat belt will not save you in every crash, it will greatly reduce your risk of injury in most crashes. For More Information Contact: TFC.
