Troop I - NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release October 16, 2012 Unrestrained Driver Dies in Crash ACADIA PARISH- This morning, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on LA Highway 13 south of Crowley which claimed the life of a Crowley man. According to investigating Troopers, on October 16, 2012, at about 3:20 a.m., 37-year-old Jason Meche of Crowley was driving a 2005 Ford truck south on LA Highway 13. For reasons still under investigation, Meche traveled off the right side of the road and overcorrected to the left which caused his vehicle to cross the roadway. Meche’s vehicle entered a ditch on the left side of the road then overturned. Meche, who was unrestrained, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead by the Acadia Parish Coroner. It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash; however, routine toxicology samples have been obtained from all drivers involved and will submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers remind drivers and occupants of motor vehicles that state law requires everyone to be properly restrained. When properly worn, a seatbelt can greatly reduce your risk of injury in most crashes. For More Information Contact: | |||
