| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: September 16, 2010 Maurice Man Killed In Crash Yesterday evening, a crash involving two vehicles killed one man and injured a woman. Troopers responded to the crash around 6:00 pm, which occurred on US Hwy 167 at LA Hwy 699, in Vermilion Parish. The crash involved a 2001 Toyota Corolla, driven by Steven P. Gale (W/M 50 yrs) of Maurice, LA and a 2006 Mazda Tribute, driven by Tammy H. Nunez (W/F 42 yrs) of Erath, LA. The Toyota was east bound on LA Hwy 699 when Gale failed to yield at a stop sign. This action caused the Mazda, which was south bound on US Hwy 167, to collide with the Toyota. Gale was transported to Abbeville General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Nunez received minor injuries and was transported to Lafayette General Hospital for treatment. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
