Edmonson, Superintendent Impaired Driver Kills One Person In Iberia Parish Crash September 21, 2008 Louisiana State Police – Troop I is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash on US 90 at Estis Road, within Iberia Parish. The crash occurred around 9:00pm on September 20, 2008, when twenty-four year old Anthony Tyler of New Iberia, La, was traveling north on Estis Road approaching a stop sign at the intersection of Estis Road and US 90. Fifty-eight year old Alfred Coleman of Jeanerette, La, was traveling westbound on US 90 in the outside (right) lane approaching Estis Road. Tyler disobeyed the stop sign at the intersection and entered US 90. Tyler applied the brakes on his vehicle, but skidded across US 90 eastbound, the crossover and entered the path of the Coleman vehicle. Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Tyler did not sustain injuries as a result of the crash, but was charged with the following offenses: Disobeying Stop Sign (32:123B), Expired License Plate (47:508), DWI 1st offense .095g%, Vehicular Homicide (one count), and 1st degree Vehicular Injuring (one count). Tyler was booked into the Iberia parish jail. This was the 45th Fatal Crash and the 50th Fatality, Troop I has investigated thus far in 2008. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
