| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent Gaming Enforcement Agents Arrest Two Employees July 31, 2008 On Friday, June 20, 2008, Louisiana State Police - Gaming Enforcement Agents assigned to Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino were provided information by Evangeline Downs management about a possible theft at the Eunice Off Track Betting Parlor known as Races and Aces. An investigation was conducted and revealed that between April 2008 and June 2008, Manager Sonja Wiltz and Supervisor Pamela Burruss Marcantel had conspired to generate fraudulent printer malfunction report forms. It has been determined that when a legitimate jackpot was won and a cash-out ticket was generated and paid, Wiltz or Marcantel would then generate an “Audit Ticket” from the machine, then fill out a printer malfunction form. By generating this form it allows the jackpot to be paid a second time to Marcantel or Wiltz. Also during the investigation, it was determined that two of the employee signatures, on separate printer malfunction forms, were forged. These forgeries were done by Wiltz, but processed and known of by Marcantel. On Wednesday, July 23, 2008, 27th Judicial District Judge Alonzo Harris signed arrest warrants for Wiltz and Marcantel. Wiltz turned herself in at the St. Landry Parish Jail where she was booked on Criminal Conspiracy, Theft over $500 and two counts of Forgery. Marcantel also turned herself in at the St. Landry Parish Jail where she was also booked on Criminal Conspiracy, Theft over $500 and two counts of Forgery. As the investigation continues, additional charges may be brought against the two women. The investigation revealed that the two were able to take approximately $30,000.00 from the casino.
