Unrestrained Driver Killed in Head-on Collision

Albany – Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a two-vehicle fatal crash last night shortly after 7:00 pm that claimed the life of a Holden woman. Troopers’ investigation revealed that Linda Higginbotham (W/F, age 68) of Holden was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer west on US 190, west of LA 43 when she crossed the centerline. The Trailblazer struck an eastbound 2005 Ford pickup, being driven by Timothy Johnson (W/M, age 17) of Independence. Higginbotham was not restrained when the crash occurred and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office. Johnson was properly restrained and suffered only minor to moderate injuries.

Troopers continue to see a lack of seat belt use as one of the primary causes of serious injuries and deaths in crashes on Louisiana highways across the state. Even in violent crashes, such as head-on collisions and multiple rollover crashes, seat belts are proven life-saving devices. Louisiana State Police will continue to work hard through education and enforcement initiatives to increase seat belt use throughout the state.

BUCKLE UP!!! SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES!!!
