Edmonson, Superintendent Texas Man Dies On I-49 August 7, 2008 On August 7, 2008, Louisiana State Police – Troop I, investigated a single vehicle crash on I-49 near milepost thirty-one, within St. Landry Parish, at 2:00 am this morning. A twenty-eight year old Texas man was operating a 2001 GMC truck southbound on I -49. The driver of the truck drove off the left side of the roadway into the grass median, then steered right traveling back across both travel lanes and struck a guardrail. The vehicle rolled over several times, partially ejecting the unrestrained driver. The driver’s identity is not being released until next of kin can be notified of the crash. Alcohol/Drugs are suspected to have played a role in this crash. Test results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This is the forty-first fatal crash and the forty-fifth fatality Troop I has investigated thus far in 2008. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
