| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent Barge Hits Bayou Warehouse Bridge September 13, 2008 Louisiana State Police – Emergency Services Unit along with Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), DOTD, Iberia Parish Fire District and Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has responded to a call that a barge struck the Bayou Warehouse Bridge in Iberia Parish around 8:00 am this morning. According to Emergency Service Personnel, the Bayou Warehouse Bridge was struck by an out of control barge and has caused severe damage to the bridge. After the impact, the barge partially sank causing approximately 150 gallons of Diesel fuel to spill from the barge. Louisiana State Police Emergency Services Personnel will continue to work closely with LDWF, DOTD and DEQ to contain the Diesel spill and recover the barge. The Bayou Warehouse Bridge is expected to be closed down until further notice.
