Edmonson, Superintendent Update On LA 13 Crash July 28, 2008 Louisiana State Police – Troop I investigated a crash on La 13 north of Pine Prairie July 27, 2008, which left a seventeen year old in critical condition. Thirty-five year David Taylor of Eunice, La, was operating an eighteen-wheeler northbound on La 13. Seventeen-year-old Joshua Oneal of Ville Platte, La, was standing in the northbound travel lane of La 13. The driver of the eight-wheeler veered right in an attempt to avoid Oneal, but the front left fender struck the Oneal in the northbound lane of La 13. Oneal, came to rest in the roadway and was transported by Air Med to Lafayette General where he remains in critical condition. Alcohol is not suspected to be a contributing factor and no charges have been filed as the crash investigation is still on going. On July 28, 2008, Louisiana State Police – Troop I was informed by Lafayette General Hospital that Joshua Oneal had died from his injuries sustained in the crash. This is the thirty-seventh fatal crash and the forty-first fatality Troop I has investigated thus far in 2008. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
