Edmonson, Superintendent Ville Platte Resident Dies On LA 363 September 30, 2008 Louisiana State Police – Troop I investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 363, near LA 29, within Evangeline Parish. The crash occurred at around 7:30am this morning, when sixty-five year old Paul Fontenot, of Ville Platte, La, was traveling west on La 363 approaching a curve and for unknown reason, Fontenot failed to negotiate the curve and began rotating clockwise. The vehicle traveled through the intersection of La 29 and entered the ditch on the west side of La 29. Fontenot’s vehicle overturned in the ditch striking the ditch embankment and came to rest on its roof. Fontenot had to be extricated from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Evangeline Parish Coroner. Fontenot was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected in this crash. This is the forty-sixth fatality and the fifty-first fatal crash Troop I has investigated thus far in 2008. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
