Edmonson, Superintendent Unrestrained Passenger Dies In Crash December 30, 2008 Louisiana State Police – Troop I is currently investigating a two vehicle fatal crash, which occurred on LA 724 @ Landry Road within Lafayette Parish. Twenty-five year old Brandon Cummings of Baton Rouge, La, was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, east on Landry Road. Cummings failed to yield at the stop sign on Landry Road at LA 724. The Cummings vehicle was struck broadside by a 2008 Chevrolet truck driven by twenty-five year old Coy Duhon of Duson, La. A passenger in the Cummings vehicle, thirty-one year old Damion Powell of Rayne, La, was not wearing a seatbelt and was fatally injured in the crash. Cummings was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Duhon was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was not injured. Alcohol use is not suspected however; per Louisiana state law a blood and urine test were conducted on Cummings, and the results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab in Baton Rouge, LA. Duhon consented to a breath test for alcohol and his test results were .000g%. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
