Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP I- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: December 11, 2008 Winter Weather Driving/Road Conditions in Troop I Area Troop I- On Thursday morning, December 11, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop I and DOTD has had to close several roadways due to snow and ice conditions on the roadway. Here are the roadway conditions as of 7:00 AM: ¨ Heavy snow and sleet has been falling from I-10 northward. Accumulations of 2 to 4 inches in some areas. ¨ ROADWAY CONDITIONS o St. Landry Parish: Interstate 49 is closed north of Sunset due to icing and snow. Visibility is poor. US 190 at the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge in Krotz Springs is closed due to icing. o Lafayette: Heavy snowfall and sleet. Roads open. o St. Martin: Reported icing on the shoulders of the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge on I-10 and the LA 328 overpass. It remains open at this time. Avoid driving in these areas if you can, it is for your safety. .
