October 20, 2008 Louisiana State Police – Troop I investigated a Critical Injury crash on LA 182 @ Lucky Lane, within Iberia Parish, on Friday, October 17, 2008. The crash occurred shortly before 7:00 am Friday morning, when a fifteen-year New Iberia juvenile attempted to cross LA 182 when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries. The driver of the vehicle, fifty-one year old Carl Rener of Jeanerette, La, was not injured and was not issued any citations as a result of the crash. On October 20, 2008, at 7:15 am, Troop I was notified by the hospital that the juvenile, had succumb to his injuries he received in the crash. Update On April 10, 2008, Louisiana State Police – Troop I investigated a single vehicle, single occupant crash on La 100, within Acadia Parish. The driver forty-six year old Bruce Deshotel of Duson, La was transported to a local hospital. On October 20, 2008, Troop I was notified by the Acadia Parish Coroners Office, That Mr. Deshotel did not die as a result of the vehicle crash. According to the Coroners Office, he died as a result of a heart attack prior to the crash. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
