Edmonson, Superintendent Two Die In Early Morning Crash October 21, 2008 Louisiana State Police – Troop I is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash on I-49 Northbound, within St. Landry Parish. The crash occurred around 5:45 am this morning, when fifty-four year old Bobby Lee of Breaux Bridge, La, was traveling north on I-49 in the right travel lane. Forty-seven year old Kurt Clonts of Leslie, MO was also traveling northbound in the right travel lane, but at considerable slower speed, due to the dense fog conditions. Lee was unable to slow down before striking the rear of the eighteen-wheeler in the front of him. Bobby Lee and his thirty-six year old passenger John Florence of Arnaudville, La, were fatally injured in the crash. The driver of the eighteen-wheeler was not injured. This crash is one of six crashes that closed both south and northbound lanes down for several hours this morning on I-49, due to very fogging conditions. Louisiana State Police reminds you to please slow down in inclement weather and drive with your headlights on.
