I-10 Closed For Triple Fatality |
Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, SuperintendentI-10 Closed For Triple Fatality June 23, 2008Louisiana State Police – Troop I is currently investigating a two vehicle fatal crash, which occurred on I-10 westbound, near LA 91 within Acadia Parish.
Twenty-six year old Corey Stelly of Crowley, La, was operating a 2005 Chevrolet Pick-up in the westbound lanes on I-10, when he struck a 1999 Ford Taurus driven by an unidentified male. The unidentified male and a passenger in the vehicle both sustained fatal injuries. Corey Stelly, was also pronounced dead at the scene. Both vehicles caught fire upon impact and was extinguished by the Crowley and Egan Fire Departments. It is unknown at this time what vehicle was traveling the wrong way on I-10. Alcohol is suspected in the crash as it remains under investigation. I-10 westbound was closed for approximately three hours and re-opened at 3:00 am on June 23, 2008. The identity of the driver and passenger in the Ford Taurus will be released upon notification of next of kin. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
